During the course of three days, the exhibition was visited by over 4,000 people: clergy, representatives of companies, salespersons, wholesalers, distributors, architects, designers.
The 10th International Exhibition of Church Construction, Church Fittings and Furnishings and Religious Art SACROEXPO was a success in every respect.
This year's SACROEXPO featured products and services offered by more than 250 architecture, interior design, and construction companies from 13 countries, including Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Holland, Slovakia, France, Belgium, Ukraine. The visitors, whose attendance level this year exceeded 4,000, became acquainted with the latest solutions applied in the construction of ecclesiastical buildings, together with necessary fittings and furnishings, decorations as well as maintenance and conservation technologies. Participants had an opportunity to learn about the newest technologies used for designing and maintaining green areas situated around church buildings as well as church renovation and adaptation in special spatial conditions. What attracted enormous attention was interior design solutions, including sound systems, religious art, liturgical vestments and vessels, information and archive systems, stain-glass windows and sculptures. Among the exhibits were also religious books and multimedia used for education and evangelization. Pilgrimage agencies also prepared their exhibition stands.
This year, the official opening of the exhibition was conducted by Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture. The Archbishop also personally presented the medal Per Artem ad Deum, which this year was received by a composer of world renown, Wojciech Kilar. The ceremony of presenting the Per Artem ad Deum medal, as well as medals and awards of distinctions of Targi Kielce and the Ćmielów porcelain Angels to exhibitors and friends of the exhibition was held on the Monday evening, 8th June, at the Kielce Culture Centre. The Gala was concluded with the Świetokrzyska Philharmonic Orchestra performing two symphonic poems composed by Wojciech Kilar, i.e. “Krzesany” and “Kościelec 1909”. The performance received an ecstatic ovation. Music lovers and all those attending the concert called the conductor, Jacek Rogala, and composer, Wojciech Kilar, back to the stage a few times.
"The Faces of the Scripture - the Bible throughout Centuries” - it was on the first day of the Exhibition that the visitors and art connoisseurs had a unique opportunity to see with their own eyes a variety of editions of the Bible, including the Leopolita Bible, which was published in 1561 - the first Polish printed edition of he Holy Bible, together with the Jakub Wujek Bible, which was published 38 years later to be the main version of the Polish translation used in the Catholic Church for 367 years until the Millennium Bible was published. There were many 19th century and contemporary Hebrew, Greek and Old Church Slavonic lectionaries, as well as parts of the 8-volume French edition of the Bible, with printed illustrations. Among the exhibits was also an ancient parchment scroll of the Torah – the main revealed text of Judaism – and a Pentateuch miniature. Among the unusual editions of the Bible were also prints used for reading with the aid of a microscope. The organizers of the exhibition "The Faces of the Scripture" borrowed precious editions of the Bible from libraries as well as from ecclesiastical and secular museums. Since 1 July, the exhibits have been on display in the Diocesan Museum in Kielce.
Sacroexpo also offers conferences, seminars and workshops. The conference "Contemporary Churches”, organized for the eighth time, was aimed at architects and those specializing in sacral art. The main subject of this year's meeting, i.e. "Heritage and Prospects for the Future" attracted considerable attention. This year, managers and employees of museums again held discussions focused on "Contemporary Museums". The exhibition was also accompanied by a conference on the protection of ecclesiastical buildings and security during religious events organized by the Church, such as processions and pilgrimages - "Parish security”. All the conferences were attended by 300 people.
