International Exhibition Tabak Expo. Results07 June 2010
Tabak Expo, the Moscow’s leading international tobacco industry exhibition, closed after a successful 3-day event, with exhibitors citing that it was the best ever in terms of doing business, and that prospects for the industry in Russia looking positive. More than 40 companies from Russia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Germany, India, China, Netherlands, Serbia, USA, Turkey, Czech Republic, Ukraine and other regions exhibited at this year’s forum. T
he exposition presented tobacco products, equipment and consumables for the production of tobacco products, equipment for tobacco preparation and cutting, cigar and packing equipment, accessories and spare parts for the tobacco industry, supplies and accessories for smoking: pipes, cigarette holders, lighters, matches, hookahs, ashtrays, etc. The majority of the Tabak Expo trade visitors came from the regions of Russia including Moscow and Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Nizhny Novgorod, Norilsk, Omsk, Saratov, Tver, Russia, Surgut, Tyumen, Vladivostok and other cities. This year’s Tabak Expo became even more international with professional visitors coming from Afghanistan, Germany, Hungary, Georgia, Israel, India, Italy, China, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mongolia, Poland, USA, Taiwan and Ukraine. More that half of all trade visitors were tobacco product manufacturers, exporters and importers – 22%, equipment and technology suppliers – 14%.
The forum also saw HoReCa sector representatives and specialised media. The international conference "The tobacco industry. The market security” was hosted within the exhibition. The security of the tobacco market and the tobacco industry, state regulation of industry and consumption of tobacco products are the main topic areas, which were addressed during this business conference. The Open Cigar Championship, which took place on 14th of May as usual, attracted the attention of the cigar experts and fans both from Russia and foreign countries. Competitions were traditionally held in two nominations: the maximum smoking time (team and individual competition) and the maximum ash length (individual competition).
The mega tasting, organized by the Smoke Russia magazine, was held on the 15th of May. The participants had an opportunity to act as experts and together with industry professionals to evaluate the cigars which were provided for the purpose by the market leaders. And the hookah connoisseurs could visit the Kalyan Hall where the producers of hookahs, hookah tobacco and accessories introduced them to the history, tradition and modern tendencies in this fashionable trend of the tobacco industry. Based on the feedback received from Tabak Expo 2010 exhibitors and visitors, the event provided a unique opportunity for all industry professionals, manufacturers and distributors to expand their market knowledge, contacts and adequately demonstrate new, high-quality products, share experiences, discover the main directions of sales strategy, support the existing business relationships and acquire new business partners.
