Gardening Scotland, the national gardening and outdoor living show, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and over the course of a decade it has earned a reputation for providing inspiration to visitors on how to make the most of their outdoor space.
A Tuscan Garden, complete with oversized terracotta pots and mature Italian olive trees and an urban New Zealand cottage garden are just two of the exhibits set to delight visitors to Gardening Scotland 2009.
The Tuscan Garden will be the second Show Garden to be created by Primo Pots from Edinburgh while award-winning nursery, Binny Plants of Ecclesmachan, will be returning with their new indoor exhibit.
Billy Carruthers of Binny Plants says: “Many Scots emigrated to New Zealand in the 19th and 20th centuries taking traditional gardening styles with them and those influences can still be seen today.” There are lots of wonderful gardens planned for Gardening Scotland 2009 and this year’s Show also promises to be a plant-lovers’ paradise, with many new nurseries and growers set to take part. Now exhibitors for 2009 will include Taylors Hebes and Chrysanthemums Direct. Scottish Women’s Rural Institutes will be showing off their gardening skills in a new Terracotta Pot Competition at Gardening Scotland 2009 and The Scottish Association of Floral Art Societies will be back too.
