About the conference
Researchers and policy makers trying to solve some of Australia’s really hard problems have one crucial need – “information”.
This information can be gained through specific data collections or through the use of administrative data, but these isolated datasets may lack analytical power.
Data linkage/integration, when two or more sources of data are brought together for a unified view, allows us to gain the type of information needed to tackle our complex challenges.
While the benefits are clear, it’s not easy. There are challenges around governance, access, legislation, technology and, of course, confidentiality and privacy. This conference will explore what is being done, and what can be done, to manage the challenges and realise the potential of this emerging area.
You will learn:
- How others are realising the potential in health, education, crime, justice, social services and transport
- About government initiatives and the role of Integrating Authorities
- How to maintain confidentiality and privacy without restricting the quality of analysis
- How to gain the support of data custodians, consumers and communities
