About the conference

Creating solutions to help ‘Close The Gap’ in educational outcomes & workforce sustainability

“Education as a pathway to good jobs is the Government’s top priority in ‘Closing The Gap’ in employment outcomes between Indigenous & non-Indigenous Australians within a decade.”
(The Hon Julie Collins MP, Minister for Community Services, Indigenous Employment, Economic Development & Minister for the Status of Women)

The third event in this highly successful series, the Indigenous Education,Transitions & Employment Conference will discuss current Government and Non-Government programs – emphasising the importance of the transition process from school into tertiary education or the workforce.

Getting your first job or going to university is the next step for many, but for Indigenous youths it can feel unattainable due to a lack in positive role models and being culturally misunderstood.

Building a sustainable support network will assist Indigenous educational retainment and strengthen the transition process for a sustainable future.

Offering a wide range of experts within the education, training, transitions and employment sectors, you will hear valuable and sustainable strategies to help ‘Close The Gap’ with Indigenous education and employment outcomes.

Gain insights into:

  • How to retain Indigenous employees in the workforce
  • How the power of partnerships can build educational ambitions
  • Examples of sustainable pathways
  • How to identify current barriers and characteristics to achieve positive outcomes
