Coastlab

Ghent University and the Coastlab 2012 Organizing and Scientific Committees warmly invite you to attend Coastlab12, the fourth edition of the Coastlab series of international conferences, after Porto (2006), Bari (2008) and Barcelona (2010). For the first time the Coastlab conference will be held in Central Europe. The host city of Ghent is a historic and at the same time, modern vibrant Belgian city close to the North Sea.

Coastlab12 offers the opportunity to discuss the latest developments in physical modelling in the field of coastal and harbour engineering! The conference traditionally serves the Coastlab network for small and medium coastal engineering laboratories, exchanging information about instrumentation, equipment and field campaign techniques. Coastlab12 is organized under the auspices of the International Association of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR). 
 
The conference provides a forum to present and discuss about recent research activities and engineering innovations, including the intercomparison of physical and numerical modelling tools. A characteristic feature of the Coastlab series is the simultaneous scientific, engineering and industrial participation, establishing exchange of knowledge between academia and industry.
 
Moreover, a visit to the city of Ghent will offer you a short "trip" to a historic medieval Flemish city with a castle surrounded by a moat, an imposing cathedral, a belfry, three béguinages, boat trips through the old channels and architectural treasures... Modern Ghent, with its large university, business centre and port is bustling with young people and students, reflecting the atmosphere of a dynamic and lively city.
