About the trade show
The Folk Dance group will be led by the Shillelagh. Of the meeting of three musicians Lille passionate dance and traditional music was born Shillelagh. Gabriel Lenoir, Aurelien Tanghe Macke and Benjamin, all three dancers put their musical inventiveness and their knowledge of the service traditions of dance. Strengths of the different practices acquired over their balls, combining expertise and facetiously, the three friends take you on a musical universe all their own. There are countless ways to dance, a thousand and one ways to play dance music.
Shillelagh plays music generous and full of life to bring the dancers, music that makes your toes tapping, get up from his chair into the circle. This is their proposal for both the music that accompanies the movement.
Shillelagh offers a repertoire of both dances of French Flanders, the region of origin of musicians, (Horlepiep, Pieternelle, Schommelwals, Mazurka van Hofstade ...) and more generic dance played in all regions of France (stuffed, circles, waltzes, scottishes ...).
The musicians are dance music and the music is the movement. In a timeless atmosphere, friendly and festive, dancers and spectators Shillelagh takes time for a ball to the delight of the ears and legs.
Balls, let it be said, are privileged moments: places where, for one evening, we tip a little elsewhere. What we like with Shillelagh is when musicians and dancers communicate when everyone comes to cause another to create unexpected moments and lots of habits to give the best of himself.
