About the trade show

The 9th iftech food+bev tec Pakistan in 2012 servicing one of the most important food processing markets in Asia

The 9th iftech food+bev tec Pakistan is the ideal venue for both, foreign exporters and Pakistani food producers looking to upgrade their production facilities. Being the leading trade show for the country’s food and beverage industry, the event will be held under the auspices of Pakistan’s Ministry of Food & Agriculture and it will be supported by BOI-Board of Investment Government of Pakistan and EDB-Engineering Development Board.

Pakistan’s food processing market is one of the most important ones in Asia. With a population of 169 million and an expected GDP of US$ 174.9 billion in 2010, Pakistan is an ever growing market. Pakistan’s agrofood-products contribute 21% to the country’s GDP (more than US$ 36.7 billion), and it is the main source of livelihood for 45% of the country’s population. The food industry of Pakistan attracted US$ 954.5 million FDI over the last five years (Federal Bureau of Statistics, State Bank of Pakistan).

The Government has taken several initiatives to further enhance the
productivity of this sector and allocated US$ 142.4 million for 2012 (Federal Bureau of Statistics, State Bank of Pakistan).  In order to fulfill the growing demand of quality food products in the domestic as well as international market, the local entrepreneurs are continuously upgrading their production facilities resulting in imports of food processing equipment.
