Finding the Height of your Success

HKTDC Education and Careers Expo is a premier event of its kind in Hong Kong where education experts and career consultants provide the most updated information on education, career and training opportunities.

This year, the Expo was held during 17-20 February 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It attracted a record-breaking representation from 705 educational institutions, government departments, commercial organisations and professional bodies from 17 countries and regions, up 29% over 2010, with new players from Denmark, Finland, Sweden and South Africa.

Thousands of local students, job seekers, working individuals and professionals attended the Expo. They were delighted with the opportunities to discuss their study and career options direct with exhibitors and to gather first-hand information from seminars and other on-site events.

In view of a growing number of people from the Chinese mainland pursuing their academic and career development in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has been actively promoting the Expo abroad with the aim to establish the Expo as a one-stop education and career information hub for the region. For instance, students from nearly 100 universities, tertiary institutions and high schools in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Macau were invited to the Expo to explore educational opportunities in Hong Kong. A press luncheon was also organised in Guangzhou prior to the opening of the Expo. It was well-attended by editors and journalists from the region and received good media coverage.

Great Diversity of Exhibitors
Working under the theme "Finding the Height of your Success", the Expo was divided into two sections: Education and Careers.

Education Section

The Education Section expanded in scale this year and attracted over 650 local and overseas universities, colleges, language schools, vocational training outlets and continuing education institutions to participate. This included Caritas Community and Higher Education Service, The Chinese University of Hong Kong's School of Continuing and Professional Studies, CUHK - Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Community College, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's College of Professional and Continuing Education, HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education, The Open University of Hong Kong, Vocational Training Council and The Wedding Management Academy (Hong Kong). Exhibitors from Australia, Canada, the Chinese mainland, Europe and the United States had been further arranged into group pavilions for visitors' ease of access.

The Careers Section introduced visitors to some 50 organisations, including commercial enterprises, government departments, semi-government organisations and professional associations.

Visitors were impressed by the variety of industries being covered, such as accounting, engineering, financial planning, government, insurance, logistics, publishing, real estate, retail and surveying.
